December 27, 2016 – The much-awaited new-gen Suzuki Swift (New Maruti Swift 2017 in India) has made its world debut in Japan. For 2017, the new Swift receives significant exterior updates along with a revamped interior. In Japan, the hatchback will go on sale on 4th January, while its India launch will take place towards the end of 2017. The Japanese-spec Swift will come with three powertrain options – a 1.2-litre K12C petrol, a 1.0-litre Boosterjet and a 1.2-litre Dualjet diesel with SHVS system.
On the other hand, the India-spec model is likely to retain the current engine lineup – a 1.2-litre K-series petrol and a 1.3-litre multijet diesel. Rumour has it that the Maruti Swift 2017 might also come with an all-new diesel engine which is being developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki, though we can only confirm this only after hearing from the carmaker. This rumoured engine is said to be 1200cc.
